In Memory

Joe Manny Marino

Dear Stingarees,

I receieved an email from Nelson Vera today informing me Joe Jose "Manny" Marino passed away March 2022. There is not much information and no obit to be found. In High School and football, I new him as Manny. I lost track of him until Facbook about 10 years ago. His Facebook page is down.

Nelson informed me he moved to Mexico about 30 years ago. Nelson and Manny were long time friends since elementary school. Nelson has been in touch with his daughter in Arizona. All we know is that he was cremated and his daughter has his ashes. Please remember Manny's family in your prayers.

If any further information is found, I will keep you informed.

Dear Father in Heaven, thank you for the life of  Joe "Manny" Marino. I pray for the family of Manny that they find peace and solace. In Jesus' Name I pray. Amen!

So very sorry to hear of Manny's passing. I grew up on 9th street in Miami where Manny also lived. I had my first crush on Manny! I was 11 yrs old. I also remember his charming Mother and Father. I have many fond memories from that time. Thank you Nelson for letting us know. I will remember Manny and his family in my thoughts and prayers...RIP Manny

Manny was a frequent poster on his Facebook page. I knew something was not right when his comments stopped and his FB page suddenly disappeared. I was shocked and sorry to read the notice of his passing this morning. We were great friends in our senior year at Miami High and brother's in our HS fraternity, Titans (TNZ).We also remained friends while we both lived near each other in Los Angeles, CA. Most do know this about Manny, that he was a great photographer and made a living with his craft in California and Oregon and carried the same skill and talent with him when he moved to Mexico. He was the community photographer for the small seaside village he lived in on the Pacific side of Mexico. May you rest in peace my good friend and brother.

Photo Below: Taken at a fun TNZ member's Viking party I organized in April,1966. Manny is seated shirtless front and center wearing his horned viking headgear. I'm sitting to his left (in the photo) with a white triangle on my head, can't remember why.

I remember Manny as a sweet fellow with a winning smile. I think all of the ladies had a crush on Manny one time or another. He and I dated for awhile and remained friends after. RIP Manny.

Sorry to hear about Manny's passing.  He was such a great guy. Always had a smile on his face. I remember after my Freshman year at UM (1967) I had a rental apartment in the Gables with Al Conseugra just for the Summer.

One day Manny showed up all excited and asked for a turntable. So several of us and sat around and listened for the first time the Beatles Sgt. Pepper"s Lonley Hearts Club Band.  Needless to say we all were spellbound because nobody had ever heard anything like that before...

I am a 67 MHS grad and a very proud TITAN brother. My memories of Manny came flooding back when I learned of his passing. I joined this group to learn about MHS friends and to hopefully contact them......so Manny....you are truly home now. Continue being YOU.....we miss you
