During his service in the Vietnam War, Army Sergeant Gomez experienced a traumatic event which ultimately resulted in loss of life on May 25, 1968. Recorded circumstances attributed to: Died through hostile action, artillery rocket mortar. Incident location: 17 km W of Tam Ky, South Vietnam, Quang Tin province.

Steve Gomez is buried or memorialized at Flagler Memorial Park, Miami, Miami-Dade County, Florida.
Steve is honored on the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial in Washington DC. Name inscribed at VVM Wall, Panel 68w, Line 1.

You are alive in my elementary school memories!  You made Kensington Park a happy and fun place.  I especially enjoyed the detailed excitement you displayed during Show & Tell about Kathy's Jungle.  May you always watch over us and bring us all the joy you shared on this earthplan.  Still miss you!

Adele Majhess (Marquez)

Steve Gomez was the grandson of my neighbors. He mostly lived with his grandparents.
He was engaged to a very good friend (can't remember her name), of my good friend,Rose Fernandez, class of 66.  Steve was class of 68.  His grandmother never recovered from the lost and about a year later she passed away.
