Obituary

Joseph D. O’Brien, an Edgewater, FL resident and beloved husband of Brenda O’Brien passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021.  He was 74. 

Born in Jeannette, PA on August 8, 1947, he was the son of the late John and Gladys (Held) O’Brien.

Joe graduated from Miami High School, Class of 1966 and studied physical education at Florida Atlantic University, Class of 1971. 

Joe served his community in many capacities.  He was a teacher and a coach at Madison Middle School and Astronaut High School and finished his career running the Education Department at the Brevard Juvenile Justice System. 

Survivors include his wife, Brenda O’Brien of Edgewater, FL and dog, Buddy.  Two sons and their spouses, Sean and Angie O’Brien and Patrick and Brittany O’Brien of Mims, FL.  Two daughters and their spouses, Kim and Bobby McCullough of Blackshear, GA and Kathy Gallyon of Statesville, NC.  Nine grandchildren, Gavin, Brock, Chloe, Aubrey, Riley, Ashley, Ty, Chase and Evan.  He is preceded in death by his brother, Jack O’Brien and his sister Claudia Domer.
